Commercial Assessment
What could an independent examination establish about the situation you're considering?
You may already have a clear understanding of the business, its commercial circumstances and the decision ahead.
A Commercial Assessment introduces an independent examination of an agreed commercial question or situation.
It establishes what the available evidence can reasonably support, whether that reinforces existing understanding, changes its significance or raises questions worth considering further.
The question can be agreed. The answer cannot.
A reason to examine. Not a presumption that something is wrong.
A business owner may be considering expansion, succession or a change in commercial direction.
An investor may be considering an acquisition or reviewing an existing holding.
A professional adviser may encounter a commercial question that sits alongside work already being undertaken.
Or an organisation may want independent examination of a position it believes it already understands.
Each situation is different.
The starting point is what needs to be understood, why it matters and whether the question can meaningfully be examined.
What is a Commercial Assessment?
A Commercial Assessment is a commissioned preliminary independent examination of an agreed commercial question or situation.
It is generally undertaken using evidence that can be examined without extensive access to internal information.
The examination considers what the evidence supports, what commercial significance can reasonably be established and what remains uncertain.
It may provide sufficient understanding for the immediate purpose or establish reasons to consider further examination.
An Assessment is a commissioned examination in its own right. It is not a free review or an obligation to commission further work.
Its conclusions are limited by the agreed scope and available evidence. An Assessment should not be represented as sufficient evidence for substantial financing, valuation, acquisition or other consequential third-party reliance.
Not every situation calls for a preliminary examination.
Some commercial questions warrant examination across selected areas. Others require greater depth or a concentrated examination of one defined matter.
Alongside Commercial Assessment, RhinoRev offers a Commercial Evidence Scan, Commercial Evidence Diagnostic and Focused Commercial Examination.
Each can be commissioned directly. There is no required progression between them.

- Reinforce what is already understood.
- Change the significance of something already known.
- Connect evidence previously understood separately.
- Establish additional commercially significant evidence.
- Establish insufficient reason for further examination.
No particular outcome is required for the examination to have done its job.
The examination establishes what the evidence supports.
What difference could the evidence make?
Commercial decisions depend on the understanding available when they are made.
An Assessment may reinforce confidence in that understanding, change how a particular situation is interpreted or identify questions that remain unresolved.
Its relevance may arise before a commitment, during an ongoing process or after a decision has already been made.
The significance depends on the circumstances, the evidence and what those responsible are considering.
RhinoRev establishes what the evidence supports. The decision remains with those responsible.
The question comes first.
Before an Assessment is commissioned, RhinoRev considers the situation and whether there is a suitable basis for independent examination.
Where appropriate, the parties agree the commercial question, scope, evidence requirements, intended use and fee.
The examination proceeds independently within those agreed boundaries.
The resulting findings communicate what the evidence supports, its commercial significance where established and any material limitations.
There is no predetermined number of findings, guaranteed financial outcome or automatic progression to another examination.
The scope is agreed before the examination. The findings are not.

You do not need to know which examination is appropriate.
RhinoRev will consider whether there is a feasible basis for examination and what scope may be suitable.
Examination Enquiry
Tell RhinoRev what you are considering and what you would like to understand. You may express an interest in a particular examination or ask RhinoRev to consider which approach may be appropriate. Submitting an enquiry does not commission an examination or create an obligation to proceed.
These controlled examples show what came into view during three different examinations. You can request one or all three.
